Soloist
- Tamsin Waley-Cohen (Violin)
Conductor: Brian Wright
Weber - Overture, Euryanthe
Delius - On hearing the first cuckoo in spring
Mendelssohn - Violin Concerto
Schumann - Symphony No.1 "Spring"
A concert to herald the Spring. Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto
has a wonderful spring-like freshness and we welcome a fine prize-winning
young soloist in Tamsin Waley-Cohen. Weber's Euryanthe Overture
tells a tale of burgeoning love. Schumann originally gave the
movements of his dynamic Spring Symphony some charmingly descriptive
titles, while Delius' title for his little tone poem says it all.
The Concert starts at 7.30pm in Mote Hall, which is within the
Maidstone Leisure Centre, Mote Park, Maidstone.

Tamsin Waley-Cohen began her 2010 season with a solo violin recital in
the Southbank centre, opening the Park Lane Group series, to high critical
acclaim. Described recently by the Guardian as a performer of "fearless
intensity" and by the Times as a violinist who "held us rapt in daring and
undaunted performances", she performs as a soloist with orchestras including
the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestra of St John's, London Concert
Orchestra and London Chamber Orchestra, Orchestra of the Swan, and Brighton
Philharmonic, and under conductors including Andrew Litton, Jose Serebrier,
Shlomo Mintz, Nicolae Moldoveanu, and Achim Holub. She has played at Cadogan
Hall, Symphony Hall, Birmingham, Bridgewater Hall, Manchester, Queen
Elizabeth Hall, Barbican, Liszt Academy Hall, Budapest and in venues across
